HERKIMER APARTMENTS circa 1915

86 Herkimer St, Hamilton, ON

This landmark building is still turning heads since being constructed in 1915. At the time it was coined Canada's most modern apartment building, heated by steam and featuring the country's first central vacuum system. Pretty neat, eh?

I've always been curious as to what the common spaces inside 86 Herkimer looked like, so its a treat to have a glimpse from the (always awesome) lens of Tom Vogel. Marble staircases, barrel vault ceilings and roof top patios, oh my!

The Herkimer Apartments are truly an architectural marvel and an important part of our great city's history. Architect William Palmer Witton, designer of the James Street Armouries, the old Spectator building and this stunner on Ravenscliffe Avenue

With only 23 units the opportunity to own and live within these storied walls is both exclusive and limited.
